
About the Film
Based on groundbreaking investigative reporting, A Day’s Work documentary (2015) reshaped perceptions of temp work and our safety on the job. The film that examines the landmark workplace death of 21-year-old Lawrence DaQuan “Day” Davis through the eyes of his family and the analysis of experts.
Day was an employee of a temporary staffing agency working at the Bacardi bottling plant in Jacksonville Florida. He was killed 90 minutes into the first day of the job - the first job of his life.
With thousands killed in preventable workplaces incidents every year in the US, the film provides a reminder of the cost of just one individual by vividly looking into the life and perspective of Day’s 17-year-old sister Antonia.

SCREENING EVENTS
A DAY'S WORK has been screened at more than 200 events in the US and Canada, by universities, unions, community organizations, government agencies, safety-conscious corporations, industry conferences, and film festivals.
For a decade, screenings of the 54-minute film have added an emotional, high-impact feature to training and education for workers, occupational safety professionals, and policymakers. It has changed perceptions of temp work for tens of thousands, helping to protect life and limb.
